Herd Diary Version 9.50f
HERD DIARY is a complete herd management and record keeping programmes for dairy and beef farmers. They are regularly revised in response to requests from our customers and the latest versions were designed and modified after consultation with customers and local Welsh farmers, with emphasis on the following themes.
E.P.S. Claims
Herd Diary now calculates stocking densities for EPS claims, and have forward projection so that you don't exceed your permitted stocking density.
BCMS Email
This programme is now included free with Herd Dairy.
It enables you to apply for Cattle Passports and to notify cattle
movements by email directly from Herd Diary without retyping all of
the details and without using any intermediary service that many
other programmes require.
All that is required are two email addresses - one to send
information and one to receive a confirmation (these are BCMS
requirements, not ours)
eg "anyfarmer-1@virgin.net" &
"anyfarmer-2@virgin.net" .
Most ISPs enable you to have several email addresses with your
account but if you are limited to just one it is easy enough to open
an other account with one of the many free ISPs.
Save Time
HERD DIARY has been designed to make a tedious job easy (and fun!) and to encourage farmers to make use of modern technology rather than be frightened by it.
Take The Worry Out Of Keeping Records
With so many new rules and regulations for cattle identification and the emphasis on traceability, it really does make sense to computerise your records.
It's Quick
Designed with a busy farmer’s schedule in mind, HERD DIARY requires little regular input to automatically keep all your records up-to-date.
It's Easy
QUICK buttons are featured to make common reports and activities
instantly available (no need to search through menus or manuals).
eg. Pop up TODAY'S’ ACTION LIST before milking!
It's (nearly) Automatic
The normal cycle of event recording is automatic once the first ‘service’ or ‘calving’ is entered - with quick glances in the Diaries to see what has happened and what should happen over any number of days, weeks, months...You no longer have to repeat details in different books eg. calves born or bought in are entered once the dam’s and sire’s history is updated and the calf identification saved.
You'll Be Well Organised
HERD DIARY keeps all the information together in one place. You don’t need to hunt for those documents in 3 or 4 different places.
Farm Accountability
Anything that happens is traceable - health, medicines, calves, casualty cows, cattle passports, BSP claims, ear tag replacements, semen straws…even after cows or calves have left the herd.
